The Greek government has established the helpline 1528 to provide help to young gays and transsexuals. It has been set up by the Hellenic General Secretariat for Youth in conjunction with the Homosexual Lesbian Society of Greece and offers advice to young homosexuals who face discrimination in their daily life.
The program, entitled “We live just like you” aims at ending social discrimination and offers advisory help to young lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals as well as to their families and teachers.
This helpline is a step taken to support members of the homosexual community and mostly, younger ones who are more vulnerable to discrimination and sexist comments. Support is offered by professionals, during the weekdays.
