Intriguing Pictures Released from Greek Movie "Plato's Symposium"

Deceased renowned director Theodore Angelopoulos described the kissing scene as “a piece of art.” What’s the story about? Director Dimitris Makris is shooting his new film “Love Issues in Plato’s Symposium” which is expected to trigger strong reactions in Greece.
In the above attached picture, tragic poet Agathon (Spyros Theodosis) is kissing eminent Athenian citizen Alcibiades (Dimitris Drakopoulos) in a symposium taking place in ancient Athens, which many prominent Athenian politicians and philosophers attended including Plato. In such symposiums Athenians used to drink wine excessively all night long, proceeding to argue with each other while some described it as a kind of orgy in which men took part.
But Plato’s friends in this ‘Sumposium’ did not choose to eat and drink too much. On the contrary, for at least one time, they discussed love- “what is love?” wondered the distinguished figures of Plato’s work.
Angelopoulos joined some scenes filmed by his friend Makris. According to Spyros Theodosis, “He liked the plot a lot and congratulated Dimitris [Makris] for his concept to film the Symposium. As for the kissing scene, he told it was a piece of art, suggesting that “true love does not depend on the sex or age.”
The film will make its debut in September at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, reports espresso newspaper.
