Exhibition of Artworks Made of Food by the International Visual Competition FeedHope

The City of Kordelio-Evosmos, its associated body ā€œ DI.K.E.K.Eā€ (Municipal Welfare Organization City of Kordelio-Evosmos), and the online magazine www.decobook.gr, organized the 1st International Visual Competition “FeedHope.” 31 individual and team works took part in the competition.
Visual artists, architects and amateur creators from across Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Crete, Volos, etc.) and other countries presented their creations, using basic material foods (canned food, dry food, legumes, pasta, liquids such as oil, honey, wine, baby food powder, sweets for children, flour, sugar).
All works will be exhibited in the Municipalityā€™s exhibition area during which the Appraisal Committee will hold the awards ceremony. The exhibition will be open to the public during April 22-29. The inauguration will take place on Sunday, April 22 at 8pm during a special ceremony during which the awards will be granted.
The Appraisal Committee consisting of five members (two artists, two members of the council and an art theorist): Mario Zeriade Eleftheriadis (Visual artist and Professor at the Arts School in Limoges, Thalia Stefanidou (Historian, art critic-curator), Lazaros Katsias (architect, Deputy Mayor of Kordelio-Evosmos), Fanis Papadopoulos (President of DI.K.E.K.E. and General Secretary of E.DI. P.I.T Journalists Union in Macedonia and Thrace) carefully examined the projects before granting the awards:
1st prize 1000 Euros. There was no contestant for the first prize so the money will be given to poor families of the municipality.
2nd prize 600 Euros: Houmou Irini, ā€œFairytales are not enoughā€
Third prize 400 eurosā€ Alexandra Marati-Anna Badakoglou, ā€œThe Gardenā€.
There will be an additional three honorary awards to be awarded.
The competition aims at promoting visual creations and collecting food for poor families in an unexpected, fascinating way. The artworks will be ā€œdestroyedā€ when needed for consumption by people in need.
