NSW Minister George Souris Provides $110,000 in Funds for Youth Music Events

NSW Minister for the Arts, Hon. George Souris, announced today that $110,000 would be provided in funding to assist young people throughout the State to stage their own alcohol and drug free music events, which would be open to all ages.

Indent, the peak youth network for contemporary music and a proud project of MusicNSW, will distribute the funds in the form of Partnership Grants and a continuation of the music tour in 2012.

The Partnership Grants give young people the skills, resources and support to stage their own events and take control of their local ‘all-ages scene’, as well as a stage for hundreds of young bands to showcase their outstanding talents.

The tour engages young people in a professional development opportunity to work on an industry standard event and tour with a professional band through regional NSW. Local teams will stage their own events in partnership with Indent and surrounding youth. The teams involved in the 2012 tour will be invited based on their previous applications under the partnership grants.
