Positive Tourism Messages Projected at London 2012 WORLD TRAVEL MARKET

Messages on the 2012 tourist season are positive, reported members of the Official Tourism Department of the Prefecture of Corfu (the State Authority of Corfu) dealing with tourist promotion and development of the Ionian sea during the International Tourism Expo WORLD TRAVEL MARKET held in London from November 7 to 10.

This year the Municipality of Corfu is participating at the Expo with its own stand and together with AOCTA, the Association of Tourist Agents and the Chamber of Corfu. Mayor of Corfu Mr. Trepeklis travelled to London and met with Culture and Tourism Minister Mr. Geroulanos.

The Mayor of the Ionian island pointed out to Mr. Geroulanos that the Greek government must stand up  to its commitments and take all necessary measures to promote and advocate the cultural inheritance of Corfu, to preserve and restore its national monuments and historical wealth.

The respective tourism brochure issued for 2012 by the Municipality of Corfu received positive comments and was translated into 7 languages.

Moreover, Ryanair, the Irish low cost airlines have announced 2 new routes connecting the airport of Corfu to Bradford Airport in Leeds and to Oslo Airport in Norway from March 29 and 26. More specifically, the cheap flights will be on Mondays and Thursdays while the prices from March 29 to June 29 will be at 39,99 Euros for Leeds, 47,99 euros for Oslo and 57,99 euros for London.
