Samaras: No Talks if Papandreou Doesn't step Aside Immediately

Greek President Karolos Papoulias met with Antonis Samaras, the leader of New Democracy, the biggest opposition party, in Athens today to try to persuade him to join a government of national unity. Samaras who until now balked at joining forces with Papandreou’s socialist party demands the premier to step aside immediately so that the country can go on and start discussions about forming a coalition government.
“Mr. Papandreou must resign now. I’m determined to help my country, but he has to step aside. The minute he does that, the procedures will start rolling and we will be able to move forward and save the country”. However, Mr.Samaras did not make explicitly clear whether he would in fact join a proposed coalition government but said he is willing to help if Papandreou steps down. It seems that both him and Mr. Papandreou still haven’t realized how critical the situation is and continue to play games at the expense of the Greek people and the euro-zone.
