For the seventh time since 2007, the National Helpline for Children SOS-1056 has received complaints from eight children who are still living in a family environment which remains unhealthy, in spite of repeated reports to authorities.
These eight children still live in terrible conditions where their most basic needs are neglected. They have never gone to school or their studies were discontinued and they were then pushed into begging. These children have never experienced love and affection.
There are children forced to enter the world of drugs, alcoholism, and mental insanity, without being able to change it. These are some examples of the cases in Greece, in where citizens trust the association “The Smile of the Child” for help.
Since 2007, the ”Smile of the Child” has repeatedly received calls through the National Helpline for Children of SOS-1056, from citizens who inform the association of child abuse cases, stating that nothing has been done to help these children to escape from their environment.
Over the first half of 2011 alone, a total of 190 complaints of serious incidents of abuse have been received, while 409 cases of neglect have been recorded. These are young victims of abuse or neglect, children trapped in tragic family situations which traumatize forever their innocent souls.
