Paper Company "Diana" Faces Serious Economic Problems

Deputies of the left-wing party “Democratic Left” Fotis Kouvelis, Grigoris Psarianos, Thanasis Levendis and Nikos Tsoukalis posed a question to the Minister of Labour concerning the paper company “Diana”, asking specifically whether he were informed about the problems of the company and what measures he was planning to take.  It has become known that the company is facing serious economic problems, with 35  of its 120 employees having already been suspended.  The remaining employees are very concerned, as they face the possibility of being fired.
“Diana” is a large company in the region of Xanthi, Northern Greece, which has been in business for the past 30 years. Lately, due to economic problems, it has been unable to buy raw materials, pay the salaries of its employees, or even pay its bills. In December 2010, its gas supply was cut and in June, its power was cut for three weeks.
