Greek Ship Sails into Bad Weather in Texas & Kills 2 On Board

A Greek oil tanker’s captain and chief engineer were killed by a large wave in the Atlantic on Thursday as the ship headed for Houston, Texas.
According to sources, the 47-year-old captain of the Aegean Angel and his 33-year-old first mate had emerged onto the deck of the vessel to see what damage it had incurred, during an earlier storm when they were hit by a large wave. A 34-year-old Cypriot navy lieutenant who also had been aboard the vessel suffered serious injuries.
“The ship didn’t suffer any damage and is now sailing to the closest port which is in Bermuda to get treatment for the injured officer who is receiving medical attention on board while the company is in contact with the U.S. coastguard,” said the Arcadia Shipmanagment spokesman, who declined to be identified citing company policy.
The vessel, which was carrying its cargo from Tallinn in Estonia to Houston in Texas, sailed into bad weather with winds of a beaufort force 8 and  around 800 miles from Bermuda, he said.
