22 Arrested in Greek Basketball Fan Rampage

Police in northern Greece say twenty-two people have been arrested after basketball fans went on the rampage.  The fans damaged property and clashed with supporters from rival teams.
The violence early Thursday involved several hundred fans of PAOK Thessaloniki after they were expelled from a game against Olympiakos.
A 18-year-old PAOK fan was beaten and locked up in a bathroom by supporters of Iraklis, a rival Thessaloniki club, police said.
The PAOK and Olympiakos fans had been ejected from the stadium after a referee was hit by an object thrown from the stands.
Olympiakos won the Greek Cup semifinal playoff 79-60, but only after the game late Wednesday was interrupted by violence for more than two hours.
