"Parliament of Youth" Educational Program Begins

For the 15th consecutive year through The Greek Parliament, the educational program: “Parliament of Youth” will take place.  It will be held from the 3rd through the 6th of September. Its steady goal being the initiation of youth in the parliamentary institution and to foster the democratic values of modern society, such as their interest in politics, but also their contribution as individuals in their formation, responsible and well-founded dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding.
During the school year of 2009-2010, 11,134 students from the second grade of all high schools of the country, as well as respective high schools and technical schools of Cyprus showed interest for the program and participated in the preliminary process.
In all 300 young members of the parliament who were selected, 260 come from Greece, 20 from Cyprus and 20 from the Greek diaspora.
The youths will arrive in Athens the following Friday, while on Saturday and Sunday (4th and 5th of September), they will convene in thematic committees respective to the Permanent Committees of the Greek Parliament and will participate in planned cultural activities.
Finally on Monday the 6th of September at 10.00 in the morning, The Plenary of the Parliament of Youth will be convened.
