The newspaper «The Australian Financial Review», describes in an article, the growing interest of Australians for the Greek wines.
The editor Tim White speaks with two Greek wine cultivators, Stelios Boutaris and Yiannis Paraskevopoulos, who visited Australia.
According to the article, the two cultivators come from Nemea and Naoussa, the two regions where the best Greek red wines are produced. Both cultivators are interested in Santorini’s wine and export more and more wines to Australia, where anyone can find them now in restaurants and bars such as «Press Club». Although Australia is not the main destination for the Greek wines (main destinations are Germany and USA), there is a growing interest for imports of wine and for the cultivation of Greek varieties.
The variety “assirtiko” is already cultivated in Clare Valley, South Australia.
