Alexandra Efraimoglou won the women’s tumbling world title in Nanjing, China, on Saturday, November 7, scoring 26.300 points to finish 0.400 ahead of Russia’s Arina Kaliandra. Greece also had Maria Aristeidou in the final, where she placed sixth.

The official results put France’s Maelle Dumitru-Marin third with 24.700, behind Kaliandra’s 25.900. Elena Neiman of Russia finished fourth on 24.100 in the deciding round.

Efraimoglou’s winning total combined 8.100 for difficulty and 18.200 for execution. Kaliandra attempted a more difficult pass, receiving 9.400 for difficulty, but scored 16.900 for execution and incurred a 0.400 penalty. Those marks left the Russian gymnast four-tenths behind the Greek winner.

Efraimoglou leads both rounds of the tumbling final

The Greek gymnast had already topped the first final round with 26.600. Four competitors advanced from that stage to the medal round, with Kaliandra and Dumitru-Marin both on 25.900 and Neiman on 25.500.

Aristeidou scored 24.400 in the first round, made up of 6.500 for difficulty and 17.900 for execution. She finished behind Belgium’s Fran Renders, who scored 24.900, and ahead of China’s Jia Fangfang on 17.200. Britain’s Megan Kealy did not start. The Hellenic Gymnastics Federation said this was the first time two Greek women had reached the individual tumbling world final. It congratulated both athletes and their coaches after the result.

Tumbling is contested separately from individual trampoline at the championships, which run from November 4 to 8.

Efraimoglou and Aristeidou also competed alongside Angeliki Anna Zormpa in the women’s tumbling team final in Nanjing. Greece placed fifth, behind Russia, Belgium, France and the United States.

A world title after European success

The gold follows Efraimoglou’s European title in Guimarães, Portugal, in April 2024 when she and Portugal’s Mariana Cascalheira finished tied, with the previous round breaking the tie in the Greek gymnast’s favor. Dumitru-Marin took bronze at that championship as well.

Efraimoglou subsequently won bronze at the 2025 World Games in Chengdu. Her international results record also lists a silver medal at the 2026 European Championships in Portimão and victory at this year’s World Cup in Coimbra.

Nanjing brings a sharp improvement on her last world championship final. At the 2025 championships in Pamplona, Spain, she finished eighth.
