Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered another powerful performance as the Miami Heat finally secured their first victory of the 2026-27 NBA season. Miami defeated the Atlanta Hawks 129-117 on Wednesday night, ending a four-game losing streak.

The Greek superstar finished with 24 points and 18 rebounds, recording a double-double that helped Miami control the game inside. Bam Adebayo also scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Andrew Wiggins added 18 points. The win lifted Miami to 1-4 after a difficult start to the campaign. It also offered an early glimpse of the potential partnership between Antetokounmpo and Adebayo.

Antetokounmpo powers Miami’s attack

The Heat established control early, scoring 34 points in the opening quarter and taking a 69-56 lead into halftime. They continued to attack the basket and finished with 70 points in the paint, compared with Atlanta’s 52.

Antetokounmpo led Miami’s effort near the rim with 24 points and a season-best 18 rebounds. He also recorded three assists, one steal and one block. Adebayo matched his scoring total and played a key role on both ends of the court. Pelle Larsson contributed 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Davion Mitchell recorded 10 points and 10 assists.

Miami shot approximately 53 percent from the field and maintained its advantage despite Atlanta’s late push.

Bam Adebayo sets a Heat franchise record

The game also marked a milestone for Adebayo. His nine rebounds brought his career total to 5,794, moving him past Udonis Haslem’s previous franchise record of 5,791. The achievement added another highlight to a night when Miami’s frontcourt proved difficult for Atlanta to contain.

The Hawks fought back in the fourth quarter and reduced the deficit, but Miami held on to secure the 12-point victory. Rookie Kingston Flemings and Nickeil Alexander-Walker each scored 23 points for Atlanta. The Hawks fell to 2-3 after losing three consecutive games following their opening two victories.

For Miami, the result provides a much-needed reset after four straight defeats. Antetokounmpo’s production and Adebayo’s record-breaking night gave the Heat two reasons for optimism as they continue building chemistry early in the season.
