Former Republican Senate nominee Don Bolduc, who received Donald Trump’s endorsement in 2022, has announced his support for Greek American Democratic Congressman Chris Pappas in New Hampshire’s 2026 U.S. Senate race.
The endorsement comes as Pappas faces former Republican Senator John E. Sununu in the November election to succeed retiring Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
Trump has endorsed Sununu, placing Bolduc in opposition to the president’s preferred candidate.
Bolduc Joins Bipartisan Support Group
Bolduc, a retired Army brigadier general, is among 58 Republicans and independents participating in Pappas’s newly established “Country Before Party” steering committee.
In a statement released by the Pappas campaign, Bolduc praised the congressman’s “unwavering dedication to our veterans” and his “efforts to foster bipartisan cooperation.”
He also expressed support for Pappas’s approach to economic issues and the national debt.
Bolduc lost the 2022 Senate election to Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan and has since publicly criticized Trump.
Former Republican state Senator Rick Russman is also supporting Pappas, criticizing the direction of the Republican Party under Trump.
Pappas Faces Sununu in Senate Contest
Pappas, a descendant of Greek immigrants from Manchester, previously served on New Hampshire’s Executive Council before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
He is seeking the Senate seat held by Shaheen, who defeated Sununu in 2008.
Sununu, who served in the Senate from 2003 to 2009, is attempting a political comeback with Trump’s backing.
An AARP poll released October 6 showed Pappas leading Sununu by 51% to 44% among likely voters.
Among voters aged 50 and older, the race was considerably closer, with Pappas ahead by 49% to 48%.
