Pop icon Madonna is spending part of her summer in Greece, choosing the island of Corfu as her primary destination to celebrate her 68th birthday on Sunday, August 16.

After arriving via private jet, she settled into an ultra-luxury villa situated on Corfu’s northern tip, featuring private sea access and an exclusive marina with a chartered yacht for cruising the Ionian waters.

Madonna’s private helicopter trip to Meteora

Stepping away from her island retreat, Madonna, wearing an all-white outfit, took a private helicopter inland to Meteora. Arranged through α local agency, she enjoyed a private tour of the historic Varlaam Monastery.

Perched atop an imposing sandstone pillar in central Greece, the Holy Monastery of Varlaam (or Monastery of All Saints) is the second-largest active monastic complex in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Meteora. Named after the 14th-century hermit Varlaam who first settled the precipitous rock face around 1350, the current monastic community was formally established in the early 16th century.

During her exclusive visit, Madonna held an extended private meeting with the 49-year-old Abbot, Father Benedict, seeking spiritual counsel and inquiring about Orthodox traditions. She has since returned to her secluded Corfu retreat to ring in her 68th birthday with family and friends.
