Hydra is currently hosting Aris Kontos, the man widely recognized as Greece’s own Brad Pitt lookalike. Kontos is on the island to join the massive US production of The Riders, which officially begins filming today, February 20, 2026.
The lookalike caused a stir when he arrived in Hydra on the same catamaran as the Hollywood superstar himself. Reflecting on the joint arrival, Kontos noted that while they shared the vessel, the chaotic scene at the port made it impossible for the two to exchange a word.
“I arrived in Hydra today, hired by the American production as a stand-in,” Kontos shared. “I’ll be stepping in for both action sequences and standard scenes. We have the fitting today, and cameras start rolling tomorrow. I’ll be on Hydra for two weeks before the production moves to Athens for another two.”
Despite his striking resemblance, Kontos remains humble—and a bit puzzled—by the comparison. “People confuse me with Brad Pitt quite often, but I honestly don’t see that much of a resemblance,” he joked.
As filming officially kicks off, the car-free port of Hydra has been uniquely adapted. Since trailers are prohibited on the island’s historic streets, the production has erected temporary shelters at the harbor to serve as dressing rooms for the cast and crew.
