The nominations for the 2025 Oscars were announced on Thursday after two delays due to the deadly wildfires that swept across the Los Angeles area earlier this month.
The Academy’s voters—consisting of an exclusive cabal including actors, directors and other prominent Hollywood figures—have until February 17 to vote. The 97th Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on the night of Sunday, March 2 at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT, and will be hosted by Conan O’Brien.
Last year Oppenheimer and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things were the big winners of the 2024 Oscars after scooping eleven awards between them.
Oppenheimer won best picture and best actor for Cillian Murphy. The film, which received thirteen nominations, also won best supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr and best director for Christopher Nolan. It also won awards for best film editing, cinematography and original score.
Emma Stone was awarded Best Actress for her role in Poor Things, which also won Best Production Design, make-up and costume design.
