Nvidia has officially announced its personal AI supercomputer called Project Digits. At the heart of it, is the new GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, which has enough processing power to run state-of-the-art AI models. This supercomputer is compact enough to fit comfortably on a desk and run with a standard power outlet.
The desktop-size supercomputer can handle AI models with up to 200 billion parameters and will retail at a starting price of $3,000.
In a press release, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said, “AI will be mainstream in every application for every industry. With Project Digits, the Grace Blackwell Superchip comes to millions of developers.” He added, “Placing an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher, and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI.”
Nvidia’s personal AI supercomputer comes with unified memory
Each individual unit of Project Digits is equipped with 128 GB of unified coherent memory. For context, the best laptops on the market may have between 16 GB and 32 GB of RAM. The supercomputer will also come with up to 4TB of storage.
The chip maker announced another feature, that two Project Digits units can be linked together to handle more demanding applications. This means that, put together, two of these units could handle models with up to 405 billion parameters. This exceeds the parameters some of the industry’s best AI systems contain, as Meta’s flagship model, Llama 3.1, had 405 billion parameters.

Project Digit’s chip is perhaps the crown jewel of this system. The GB10 chip enables the computer to perform 1 quadrillion calculations per second, at an FP4 precision. This helps the calculations faster by making approximations.
The system also has Nvidia’s latest-generation technology. It holds its newest CUDA cores and fifth-generation Tensor Cores.
Project Digits owners will be able to access the chipmaker’s AI library
Users who purchase Nvidia’s supercomputer will access the chip maker AI software library. The library includes development kits, orchestration tools, and pre-existing AI models.
As for the operating system, Project Digits runs on a Linux-based operating system called Nvidia GX OS and supports mainstream frameworks like Python, PyTorch, and Jupyter Notebooks. The system is highly customizable, so developers can fine-tune it following their individual needs.

The supercomputer’s primary purpose is for users to develop and test their AI models on Project Digits, without outsourcing their testing. This is Nvidia’s flagship supercomputer, but it comes as a better and bigger version of its $249 Jetson computer, which handles 8 billion parameters.
