Five of the seven Greek Americans who ran for Congress on Tuesday have won. One is leading, and one has failed in his bid.
Nicole Malliotakis, Chris Pappas and Gus Bilirakis were reelected, while Mike Haridopolos and Maggie Goodlander won in their first attempt. Dina Titus is leading in the race in Nevada.

Nicole Malliotakis
Republican Rep. Nicole Malliotakis has won reelection against Democratic candidate Andrea Morse in the 11th New York Congressional District.
With more than 95% of the vote in, Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/South Brooklyn) had 64.7% of the vote to 35.3% for Morse.
“Once again, the people in our community said that they have had enough of one-party rule in New York State, they want bipartisan representation in Washington, and they want people with common sense elected at the city, state and federal level. And that’s what you saw take place right here on Staten Island,” said Malliotakis.
This marks Malliotakis’ third term in office after she bested former Democratic Rep. Max Rose in 2022, winning 61.7% of the vote. Malliotakis had unseated incumbent Rose in 2020, taking his seat with 53.1% of the vote.
Chris Pappas
With 80% of the vote in, the Associated Press called the race for Pappas at 11:42 p.m. Pappas, of Manchester, had secured 54% of the vote to Prescott’s 46% when the race was called.
The incumbent Democrat, first elected in 2018, won a fourth term Tuesday in what has historically been a purple district made up of an eastern chunk of the state. The latest victory means Pappas has won the seat more consecutive times than any candidate in the past four decades.
“We built a powerful coalition of Democrats, independents and, yes, Republicans, too, who are all tired of division and cynicism and a partisanship in our politics,” said Pappas, 44, of Manchester. “And they want leaders who are going to put New Hampshire first, and that’s what I intend to do when I’m back on the job.”
Gus Bilirakis
With almost all votes counted, Gus Bilirakis was reelected in the 12th Congressional District of Florida. The Greek American lawmaker got more than 71% of the vote. His opponent Democrat Rock Aboujaoude Jr. got 29%.
As a second-generation Greek American, Gus Bilirakis is deeply committed to enforcing the rule of law, defending freedoms and preserving the American dream for future generations.

Mike Haridopolos
Republican Mike Haridopolos won election to a U.S. House seat representing Florida on Tuesday.
The 8th District, which is east of Orlando and covers Florida’s Space Coast, is the state’s only open seat this cycle.
Haridopolos, who was not known until recently to the Greek American community outside of Florida, says he is committed to bringing tested integrity and dedicated service to Washington, D.C. to represent Brevard, Indian River and Orange Counties.
He promises to fight against illegal immigration, restore our economy and protect our national security.
Dina Titus
Things look good for Dina Titus who is running for reelection in the 1st District of Nevada against her Republican opponent, Mark Robertson.
With 87% of the votes in, the Greek American lawmaker is leading with 51%. Her opponent is at 46%.
Originally born in Georgia to parents of Greek descent and a family with a political background, Dina Titus has represented Nevada’s 1st Congressional District since 2013.
The district includes much of Las Vegas. The Greek American Congresswoman has an extensive political past, having previously represented Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives between 2009 and 2011, and prior to that, serving in the Nevada Senate between 1993 and 2009.
In a recent interview with Greek Reporter she spoke passionately about issues relating to Greece and Cyprus.
Maggie Goodlander
In the 2nd District of New Hampshire, a candidate who is not very familiar to the general Greek American public, but who revealed that she is of Greek origin, won the race.
With almost 90% of the votes counted, the Greek American politician with roots in Grevena is winning by 53.3%.
John Avlon
Former CNN anchor John Avlon, originally from Corfu and Samos, was defeated Tuesday night in his bid to represent New York’s 1st Congressional District in the House, Decision Desk HQ projects.
Avlon, who ran as a Democrat, lost to Republican Rep. Nick LaLota, who won 55% of the vote to Avlon’s 44 with more than 90% of the vote reported.
