A Greek company was recently awarded a pan-European distinction by the European Defense Agency (EDA) for its innovative work on artificial intelligence (AI) and risk management.

Cyber Noesis based in Athens won the “Defence Innovation Prize 2023” competition, in the “Technologies for Communication and Information Systems” category.

The proposed solution by the Greek company was submitted in collaboration with the Internet Services and Information Security Laboratory of the International University of Greece and was entitled “AI–assisted dynamic risk management for context–aware access control in Zero Trust Architectures”.

It introduces an innovative approach to protecting organizations’ resources against existing and emerging cyber threats by combining three key research areas: Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), Threat Intelligence Management and Dissemination in cyberspace (Cyber Threat Intelligence) and Dynamic Risk Management.

The enhancement of Zero Trust Architectures aims to control access and make decisions based on the existing level of risk. The proposed dynamic risk management, using artificial intelligence, aims to improve conditional access by considering (near) real-time information on both threats and vulnerabilities.

The solution is expected to enhance the security of military communication systems and ensure the effectiveness of critical military operations.
