Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos has set his sights on the Ionian Sea in Greece with his lavish vacation aboard the superyacht “Koru.” It is valued at an astounding five hundred million dollars.

After cruising through the Cyclades last year, Bezos and his partner, Lauren Sanchez, have chosen the Ionian Sea for their summer escape. The magnate was recently spotted on the island of Kastos in Lefkada, where his group disembarked from the “Koru” using a tender.

Bezos’ Lavish Superyacht

The “Koru” is a remarkable 127-meter schooner with three masts reaching a staggering height of seventy meters. The construction of the vessel came at a substantial cost of half a billion dollars. In terms of Bezos’ personal wealth, Forbes estimates it to be around $163 billion.

Ranked as the thirty-second largest yacht globally, “Koru” has an annual operational cost of approximately twenty-five million dollars. The superyacht can accommodate eighteen guests and requires a crew of forty sailors to manage its amenities.

This impressive vessel adds to Bezos’ vast collection of superyachts, helicopters, and planes. The “Koru” features an aluminum and steel construction, encompassing three decks and a swimming pool.

Launched in 2023, the “Koru” reigns as a sailing yacht with a beam of 16.95 meters, a draught of 5.02 meters, and a voluminous 3,493 gross tons. Powered by two MTU engines, the yacht reaches a top speed of twenty knots.

A smaller utility yacht next to the massive vessel has a helipad for Bezos and his celebrity guests. This vessel is designed to carry luxury cars, jet skis, speedboats, and even a personal submarine, Daily Mail reports.

Bezos’ previous luxury cruise in Greece

During a previous Greek vacation, Bezos enjoyed an Aegean cruise aboard a luxurious yacht before his impending space voyage.

His maritime expedition included billionaire Barry Diller, Diane von Furstenberg’s husband, and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper.

They explored the Aegean on the Eos, a three-masted Bermuda rigged schooner, among the world’s largest private sailing yachts, formerly owned by Diller.

Greece as a top destination for superyachts

As reported earlier, Greece ranks as the world’s second most favored superyacht destination. Only Italy surpasses in numbers, taking the global top spot.

Greece attracts wealthy people with its warm climate, azure waters, and countless islands scattered across the eastern Mediterranean.

For such a great demand, Vouliagmeni, located south of Athens, is quickly becoming a superyacht hub. An advanced Astir Marina is underway to allure the affluent.

It is located twenty-one kilometers from Athens and the port of Piraeus and occupies 16.3 hectares of pine forest. The marina aims to shine as the premier destination for superyacht mooring following its renovation and expansion.
