Athina Onassis’s ex-husband Álvaro Affonso de Miranda Neto, more commonly known as Álvaro de Miranda or “Doda”, celebrated the birth of his daughter, who will be named Giulia.
Doda, an Olympic-class Brazilian show-jumping rider, is now married to Denize Severo, with whom they have one boy. He also has another daughter from his first marriage, who is currently 24 years old.
Severo uploaded photos of the happy couple holding the newborn baby girl.
In 2019, Doda spoke for the first time about his marriage to Athina Onassis after his divorce from the Greek heiress in 2017.
“We were married for more than 10 years, which proves that our marriage had foundations,” he said. “Athina was good to me and my daughter, but now we’ve turned the page.”
He also spoke kindly of Onassis as a stepmother and wife.
Athina filed for divorce in 2016 after allegations that her former husband was secretly dating a Belgian woman for 8 out of the 11 years that they were married.
The former couple reached a consensual agreement in 2017. Their divorce was finalized in a courtroom in Belgium. Athina and Doda were not present during the divorce process and only their respective lawyers turned out to speak in front of the judge.
Doda, who is a four-time Olympic rider and two-time Olympic medalist, married Onassis in December 2005. Athina legally changed her name to Athina Onassis de Miranda the following year. Miranda’s longtime friend and fellow jumping rider Rodrigo Pessoa served as best man at the wedding.

Despite inheriting a sizeable fortune from her late grandfather, the Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis, the personal fortune of Athina Onassis has reportedly declined by a significant margin.
The fortune of Aristotle Onassis, which has steadily been acquired by his granddaughter Athina, is estimated to have been worth $2.3 billion.
However, according to recent reports and speculation, the personal fortune of Athina Onassis has dwindled dramatically to $500 million; still a very sizeable fortune, but a drastic downsizing of wealth, all the same.
The lone heiress to the Onassis fortune turned 38 just a few months ago in January. Her uncle Alexandros died in an airplane accident in 1973.
Despite her riches, she seems to have been singled out for a life of tragedy and difficulties. Her mother, Christina Onassis, was found dead on November 19, 1988 in the bathtub of a friend’s house in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Athina was only three years of age when her mother Christina passed away of pulmonary edema. Since the death of Christina Onassis, she is the sole surviving member of the Onassis family.
