China Hosting Greek Mythology Digital Art Festival in Beijing

China is hosting a Greek mythology digital art festival to showcase the ancient cultural ties between the two nations.

The festival in the capital Beijing is hosted by the Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group and the Greek Embassy.

The event combines digital art and Mixed Reality technology to bring the audience into the world of ancient Greece, where the history of ancient Greek mythology and the combination of art and technology are experienced, said the Global Times.

“It is very nice to be here, to enjoy this wonderful virtual trip to Greek mythology Solana and Wanda Group and OneK MR+ have prepared for all of us. The love and respect Chinese people have for Greece and Greek mythology never stops to amaze me, but this metaverse presentation has really hit the ball out of the park,” Nestor Tyrovouzis, head of public diplomacy office, at the Greek Embassy in China said at the opening ceremony.

“I hope, now that China is opening up, you will all have the opportunity to travel to Greece and visit for yourself mount Olympus, where the Greek Gods lived, or ancient Olympia, where the legendary hero Hercules created the Olympic Games and other places, Greece is a mythic land to visit,” he added.

The event will be held until June 30 in another that has illustrated the cultures of the countries, including featuring China in Greece as relations have become even tighter, including some more direct flights from China to Athens.

Center of Chinese and Greek ancient civilizations

In February China’s President Xi Jinping congratulated Greece on the founding of the Center of Chinese and Greek Ancient Civilizations in Athens.

The Center (KELKIP) is an initiative of four Greek university institutions and the Chinese universities of South West, Renmin, Shandong and Sichuan with the main objective of promoting the comparative study of the two ancient cultures, their evolution, but also their modern reception and interpretation.

Hailing the long history of the Chinese civilization and the profound influence of the ancient Greek civilization, Xi said in the letter that more than 2,000 years ago, the two civilizations shone brightly on the two ends of the Eurasian continent, jointly making a fundamental contribution to the evolution of human civilization.

Now, it is of great historical and contemporary significance for the two countries to establish the center, which is committed to promoting exchanges and mutual learning between the two civilizations and promoting the development of civilizations of various countries, said Xi, according to Xinhua.
