Greek Man Confesses to Murder of Family of Four in Andravida

A 60-year-old man on Friday confessed to the murder of a couple and their two children in the town of Andravida, Peloponnese.

The family of four was found dead in their rented home on Wednesday with suspicions leading to the landlord.

The perpetrator was arrested shortly after midnight in Patras and was transported to the Pyrgos Police Station where after a preliminary interrogation confessed to the crime that shook Greek society.

The suspect of the murders in Andravida was wanted since Wednesday after the four dead bodies were found in the house he was renting to the family, according to local news website patrisnews.gr.

The arrest

The 60-year-old man was located and arrested after a coordinated operation and was taken to the Achaia Police Headquarters. His car, a blue truck, was initially located on the Patras-Pyrgos National Highway.

The man was discreetly followed by the Police, which set up a blockade at the junction of Patras – Klaus and Eleftherios Venizelos. According to information, he surrendered to the Police without resistance.

Earlier, a large police operation was set up for the suspect in the Andravida murders, as there were reports that the perpetrator had returned to his home.

A strong police force surrounded the house expecting the man to return but left as soon as they were informed of his arrest in Patras.

The perpetrator

The 60-year-old murder arrested for the murders is an Andravida resident and father of two children. He is the owner of the house where the Kloci family lived.

According to neighbors’ testimonies who spoke to national broadcaster ERT, the perpetrator is a man who had often exhibited aggressive behavior in the past.

In the past, the neighbors said, the 60-year-old had shot a fellow local without apparent reason.

The same testimonies state that recently, due to financial difficulties, the couple fell behind in rent payments. The 60-year-old had intense quarrels with the murdered man of the house, Armando Kloci.

The autopsy

The autopsy of the family of four murdered in Andravida had shown that the man and woman were shot in the head and the two children — 2 and 3 years old — were killed my suffocation.

Forensics also took DNA samples in order to identify the perpetrator.

The Andravida murder reports had shocked Greek society. Especially when details of the act came to light. Even more so for the cause of the crime: Some delayed rent payments.

Police said on ERT that the crime was deemed to be premeditated, with the perpetrator intending to hide traces of the murdered family, so he had started loading the bodies in trailers to transport them.

Police also said that they received information that the 60-year-old wanted to evict them before the lease expired.
