Actress Kate Hudson was seen with actor Daniel Craig shooting Knives Out 2 in Greece. The 42 year-old actress will be joining the ensemble cast in the sequel to the 2019 hit murder mystery Knives Out. New additions also include, Dave Bautista, Kathryn Hahn, Edward Norton, Leslie Odom Jr., and Janelle Monáe.

Hudson has taken this opportunity to enjoy her first vacations since the pandemic began in spring of 2020, posting on instagram that she’s “Been [home] since March 2020 and now it’s time to roll little lady. We got this 😷,” referring to her 2 year-old daughter, Rani Rose.

Craig is returning to the franchise as Detective Benoit Blanc. Craig was seen in costume wearing a pink dress shirt, eggshell linen pants and a light blue scarf.

Director Rian Johnson stoked excitement for the upcoming movie by tweeting an image of a camera framing the Greek scenery with the caption “”Aaaaaaaand WE’RE OFF! Day one of filming on the next Benoit Blanc mystery! Thanks to all the lovely patient people here in Greece for letting us do all this murdering on their peaceful shores.”

While Knives Out 2 is on its way to completion, Johnson is already working on a third film for the franchise, and Craig will be reprising his starring role in that one, too.

The massive success of the first Knives Out, starring Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Colette, Christopher Plummer, Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, LaKeith Stanfield, and Katherine Langford, has created a niche for Johnson’s eccentric and rich take on murder mysteries in the vein of Agatha Christie novels.

“[I had] such a great time working with Daniel, and now just seeing that audiences are responding to it, the idea of continuing it on seems like it would just be a blast,” the writer-director said.

Dave Bautista “nervous” on his Knives Out 2 role

Greek-Filipino actor Dave Bautista admitted recently he’s a little intimidated taking part in Knives Out 2.

In an interview with Slash Film, the actor said “it feels terrifying. I’m nervous about it. I’m really nervous.” Though Bautista has been acting for years, most notably in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, he mostly specializes in action roles.

“Knives Out 2” expects comedic timing and different acting skills from him. Bautista seems excited to take his career in this new direction, and realizes that he will be performing next to some powerhouse, experienced actors.

“Knives Out 2” with Dave Bautista is one of many productions slated to film in Greece this year. David Cronenberg’s next new highly anticipated feature will be filming in Greece as well. The country’s recent tax rebate program is drawing in productions from the US, the UK, and all over the world.

Greek Reporter interviewed Dave Bautista about his Greek heritage. See the full interview below:

In it, the actor admitted that though he had tremendous pride in his Greek background, he hadn’t yet been to Greece. “I want to go to Greece so bad…I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never been.”

The filming of “Knives Out 2” may provide Bautista with just the opportunity he’s been looking for to explore Greece. His mother is of Greek origin. The actor shared that part of the reason he was a little more connected to his Filipino heritage was because he grew up more with his father’s side of the family.

However, he seems set on maintaining Greek culture in his family, perhaps the reason he named his daughter Athena.
