“Knives Out 2,” Starring Daniel Craig, Begins Filming in Greece

Knives Out 2, the highly-anticipated sequel of the Oscar-nominated 2019 film, has officially started production in Greece.

The film starring Daniel Craig, Dave Bautista, and Kathryn Hahn is currently being shot on the island of Spetses.

The director of the film, Rian Johnson, took to social media to announce beginning of the film’s shoot on the Greek island.

Sharing a picture from the sets of Knives Out 2, the filmmaker expressed his thanks to the “lovely patient people in Greece for letting us do all this murdering on their peaceful shores.”

Knives Out, released in 2019, was a mystery film penned and helmed by Rian Johnson. The film followed a master detective investigating the death of the patriarch of a wealthy, dysfunctional family.

Starring Daniel Craig as private detective Benoit Blanc, the film also featured Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer.

The sequel, currently being shot in Greece, will see Daniel Craig’s return as the detective. The Knives Out 2 cast includes Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline and Edward Norton in major roles.

According to reports, Knives Out 2’s filming in Greece is set to conclude by August. The rights of the film’s upcoming two instalments, Knives Out 2 and Knives Out 3, have already been acquired by the online streaming platform Netflix.

Dave Bautista “nervous” on his Knives Out 2 role

Greek-Filipino actor Dave Bautista admitted recently he’s a little intimidated taking part in Knives Out 2.

In an interview with Slash Film, the actor said “it feels terrifying. I’m nervous about it. I’m really nervous.” Though Bautista has been acting for years, most notably in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise, he mostly specializes in action roles.

“Knives Out 2” expects comedic timing and different acting skills from him. Bautista seems excited to take his career in this new direction, and realizes that he will be performing next to some powerhouse, experienced actors.

“Knives Out 2” with Dave Bautista is one of many productions slated to film in Greece this year. David Cronenberg’s next new highly anticipated feature will be filming in Greece as well. The country’s recent tax rebate program is drawing in productions from the US, the UK, and all over the world.

Greek Reporter interviewed Dave Bautista about his Greek heritage. See the full interview below:

In it, the actor admitted that though he had tremendous pride in his Greek background, he hadn’t yet been to Greece. “I want to go to Greece so bad…I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never been.”

The filming of “Knives Out 2” may provide Bautista with just the opportunity he’s been looking for to explore Greece. His mother is of Greek origin. The actor shared that part of the reason he was a little more connected to his Filipino heritage was because he grew up more with his father’s side of the family.

However, he seems set on maintaining Greek culture in his family, perhaps the reason he named his daughter Athena.
