Greek Nominations for the 93rd Oscars
The complete list of 2021 Oscar nominations includes two Greeks this year. For Best Cinematography, famous director of photography Phedon Papamichael is up for an award thanks to his work on “The Trial of the Chicago 7”.
Papamichael frequently works with Greek-American director Alexander Payne on his projects. He was previously nominated for an Oscar for “Nebraska”.
The second nomination goes to Yorgos Lambrinos for Best Editing. Lambrinos worked on “The Father” by Florian Zeller, starring Anthony Hopkins, which is up for some other awards as well.
Lambrinos has been working on documentaries, shorts, and independent features for a while. However, his work on “The Father” catapulted him into the higher ranks of the entertainment industry.
Originally from Greece, Lambrinos now lives and works in Paris, France.
2021 Academy Awards Ceremony
Normally the Oscars would air earlier in the year, usually around February. In 2021, due to the ongoing pandemic, they were pushed to Sunday, April 25. The primary event will be held as usual at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
However, due to the partly remote nature of this year’s ceremony, other locations will be included as well. Audiences can expect broadcasts from Union Station in Los Angeles, as well as other international locations.
The show producers for the 93rd Oscars include director Steven Soderbergh, producer Jesse Collins, and Stacey Sher.
With names like that, audiences can expect a full-on entertaining spectacle come Oscars night. As the producers stated, “in keeping with our awards-show-as-a-movie approach, we’ve assembled a truly stellar cast of stars.”
The Oscars ceremony will air live on ABC on April 25 at 8 PM EST/5 PM PST.
