Greek Airline Christens Two Aircraft in Honor of Greek Bicentennial

The Greek bicentennial of the War of Independence was honored by the Greek airline SKY Express by their purchase of two more brand-new Airbus A320neo aircraft, and christening them with the names “1821” and “Freedom/Eleftheria.”

SKY Express’ press release on the occasion of the purchase and naming of the aircraft says “To celebrate 200 years since the Hellenic Revolution together with all Greeks, our fleet’s newest members have been given apt names inspired by this glorious Anniversary.”

Greek bicentennial planes carry message of Greek pride far and wide

The two new aircraft are already in the heavens above “the skies of Greece and Europe, to 39 domestic and international destinations, conveying the panhellenic message of pride that all Greeks boast,” the company says.
