Greece: Record 453 Covid Cases Monday; Six Deaths

Greek officials announced that health authorities had diagnosed a record 453 new cases of the corona virus in the country on Monday, along with six deaths associated with the virus.
Out of this total, 195 cases were linked to known outbreaks. This includes 184 cases of the coronavirus discovered after rapid testing in the refugee camp Kara Tepe in Lesvos, after the residents there had been relocated from the Moria camp.
Testing conducted at Greece’s points of entry accounted for just 25 of Monday’s cases.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Greece since the beginning of the pandemic is 15,595, including al those who have recovered from it. Just 2,618 of those cases can be connected to foreign travel, while 6,592 are connected to contact with a confirmed case of the virus.
A worrying 79 patients suffering from the virus are currently intubated, adding to fears of limited spaces in Greece’s intensive care units.
The median age of these patients is trending downward, at 68, and 87.3% of them are either over the age of 70 or have underlying health issues. Only 24 of these individuals are female.
A total of 344 people have lost their lives with the virus in Greece. The median age of those who have passed away with the virus is 78, and 96.8% have underlying health issues or are over the age of 70.
