A 28-year-old pregnant woman from Somalia who is being housed at a hotel in the area of Kranidi in Argolis on Greece’s Peloponnesian peninsula, has been found to be positive for the coronavirus.
Greece’s Migration and Asylum Ministry sent a team there, which is already at the facility while Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi is expected to arrive shortly.
According to a Migration Ministry announcement the woman went on Sunday to a hospital in Nafplion for another reason and underwent a blood test for the coronavirus.
The result was positive, and the woman was put in quarantine in her room despite not experiencing any symptoms of the malady.
The specific hotel was also placed in quarantine on Thursday for precautionary reasons as a member of the staff was found to be positive for the coronavirus as well.
The Somali woman, however, has not gone to her place of work for the last twelve days.
A total of 470 asylum seekers, mostly from Africa, are staying in the same hotel where the Somali migrant is living.
Additionally, on Saturday, a 39-year-old woman from Sudan who was being housed in the same facility passed away.
The Migration and Asylum Ministry clarified, however, that according to the woman’s medical history, she was not infected with the coronavirus.
