Greek Environmental and Energy Ministry Buys Electric Cars and Bicycles for Staff

Greece’s Environment and Energy Ministry received the first electric cars and bicycles that will be used exclusively by the ministry’s staff on Friday.
Environment and Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis stated “We have an ambitious green agenda and we must prove every day that we mean what we say. For this reason, we have decided to buy three electric cars and placed a battery charger outside the Ministry building. We also bought electric bicycles for the staff of the Ministry.”

Hatzidakis also referred to the Ministry’s other green actions taken recently. “We are showing first the way to a new, greener era, for us and for our children,” he said.
He also revealed that an interministerial committee from the Finance Ministry, the Transport Ministry and the Environment Ministry has been formed, which in cooperation with experts and other market agencies, will elaborate a comprehensive framework on the use of the electric cars.
“I believe that in a couple of months we will be ready to present the draft law,” Hatzidakis added.
