John Stamos Shows Off Incredible Comedic Skills in ‘The Little Mermaid Live!’

John Stamos was featured in ABC’s airing of “The Little Mermaid Live!” on November 5, and audiences were pleasantly surprised to see him playing a totally comedic, against-type character.

In the show, which combines scenes from the Disney classic “The Little Mermaid” with live musical numbers, Stamos played the eccentric Chef Louis.

Moving away from his usual typecasting, in which he is cast as cool, handsome characters for the most part, Stamos decided to fully embrace the goofy nature and comedic eccentricity of the Chef character.

People on social media raved about how surprising and hilarious this turn from Stamos was.

Stamos had a small flub that the Internet caught onto, mistakenly calling lead character Prince Eric, “Albert”, before correcting himself. Neither he nor audiences seemed to take it too seriously though. One fan asked him if he actually made a mistake, to which Stamos responded on Twitter, “I did! Not sure where it came. (kids don’t google Prince Albert) I ad-libbed in dress rehearsal after getting pelted with flour, ‘I should have played Prince ERIC’ but for some reason ALBERT came out – oh well”.

“The Little Mermaid Live!” also included performances by Auli’i Cravalho as Ariel, Queen Latifah as Ursula, and Graham Phillips as Prince Eric. Watch Stamos’ performance as Chef Louis in the clip above, courtesy of ABC.
