August Full Moon Events at Greece's Archaeological Sites Now Underway

Events celebrating the full moon of August at archaeological sites throughout Greece are now underway and will conclude on Sunday, August 19, the Ministry of Culture announced in a statement issued on Monday.
This year’s full moon will occur on Thursday, Αugust 15, which also coincides with the Greek bank holiday and the Orthodox feast commemorating the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.
The events celebrating Greece’s archaeological treasures under the August moonlight began in 1999, and they have proven to be very successful ever since that time, becoming almost a summertime tradition across the nation.
This year, a total of ninety-seven archaeological sites, museums and monuments will be open on specific days of the week for people to enjoy the brightest moon of the summer, while music and other cultural events will be held in forty-eight of the venues.
It is noted that entrance is completely free to the public during these special events.
