Jim Gianopulos Announces New “Paranormal Activity” Movie

Jim Gianopulos went on record at CineEurope to announce that a new installment of the “Paranormal Activity” franchise is currently being developed at Paramount Pictures.

Though details about the film are being kept secret, we know that the movie would be produced in cooperation with famed horror movie producer Jason Blum.

The new movie would be the seventh “Paranormal Activity” film in the franchise. The movies have earned over $900 million in total at the international box office since the first film premiered in 2009.

The original “Paranormal Activity” was a surprise hit when it was first released. Although it was made with an extremely low budget (since it was shot to look like a homemade video), it grossed $193.4 million at the worldwide box office.

Gianopulos also spoke about other upcoming projects at Paramount, including “A Quiet Place 2”, the sequel to John Krasinki’s acclaimed directorial debut, and Ang Lee’s sci-fi epic “Gemini Man.”

Scenes from the upcoming “Top Gun: Maverick” were also screened by Paramount at CineEurope.
