Shops Vandalized in Central Athens Now Seek Compensation From the State

Constantinos Michalos, the President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EBEA) called on the Greek authorities on Saturday to compensate the businesses that were vandalized on Thursday night in central Athens.
A group of supporters of the convicted terrorist Dimitris Koudontinas vandalized several shops in protest of Greek authorities’ refusal to grant Koufontinas a new furlough from prison.
Shops and bank branches on Athens’ Akademias, Voukourestiou and Valaoritou streets saw their windows smashed by self-styled anarchists.
The vandalism has caused more than €70,000 in damages, and for this reason, EBEA sent a letter to Greece’s Civil Protection Ministry and the country’s Finance Ministry asking for the state to compensate the business owners affected by the violent incidents.
