Coming off of a stellar acting year, Zoe Kazan has recently been cast in the new HBO miniseries, “The Plot Against America.”
The six-part miniseries has also cast Winona Ryder, Morgan Spector, and John Turturro so far. It is based on a 2004 novel of the same name by Philip Roth.
The story creates an alternate timeline of American history, where Charles Lindbergh, an aviation hero but also a xenophobic populist, becomes president. Issues of populism and fascism in the country are seen through the eyes of a working-class Jewish family in New York.
Zoe Kazan has been cast as Elizabeth “Bess” Levin, a stay-at-home mother who is worried about her family’s future and starts trying to plan her family’s escape.
David Simon and Ed Burns are the writers and executive producers behind the project. It is likely that the show will be delivering messages pertinent to the current time in US political history.
Last year, Kazan performed in the Oscar-nominated “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.” She has also been publicly critical of the child border separations in the American Southwest.
There is no word yet as to when “The Plot Against America” series will be released on HBO.
