Greek Researcher Among Winners of ”130 Years Sofia University” Awards

A Greek national, Anastasios Papapostolou, was one of six winners of the ”130 Years Sofia University” Awards that were bestowed by Bulgaria‘s oldest institution of higher education, in March 2018.

The competition was sponsored by the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (FMI) of the ”St. Kliment Ohridski” Sofia University. There were three categories, including the Bachelor level, the Master level and one for PhD-level recipients. Each category awarded prizes to two individuals.

Anastasios Papapostolou was one won one of the two winners of the award in the PhD. category, receiving the distinction along with Vladislav V. Haralampiev.

Papapostolou is a PhD. candidate in Computer Science in the Department of Computing Systems. A graduate of the Technical University of Crete, he received his masters in 2014 as an electronic and computer engineer.

From October 2016 he has been working, in parallel with his studies as a PhD. candidate, as a teaching assistant in the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics in the Department of Computing Systems of Sofia University.

He teaches Advanced Web Programming, a graduate course which covers the topics of web development using HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript and jQuery for building web applications.
