U.S. Ambassador on the Bear Trail Promotes Beautiful Greek Mountains (video)

U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt,  has been visiting the alpine area of Epirus in north-western Greece highlighting the unexpected beauty of the mountains and the opportunities for skiing.
Last week, the American diplomat visited Greece’s “bear country” near the beautiful town of Metsovo where he snapped fresh footprints of a bear and her cubs.

Pyatt, a life-long skier, spoke of the opportunities Greece has to offer as an all-year-round destination.
Addressing a conference on winter tourism, Pyatt said he is “a huge fan of Greece’s ski slopes. I’ve enjoyed skiing from Kalavryta in the south all the way to Kaimaktsalan in the north.”
“None of my friends in America believe me when I talk to them about the Greek mountains. Americans think of Mykonos and Santorini but they forget that this is a very mountainous country,” he added.
The ambassador also noted the partnerships that are emerging in the skiing industry between the US and Greece.
“There is expansion of US hotel brands across the country, big new investments and acquisitions, like Avis, and the possibility for increased direct flights from the US to Greece,” he said.
