2018 Concordia Summit Kicks Off in New York City

The 2018 Concordia Annual Summit, a high-level nonpartisan forum that attracts some of the most important world and business leaders kicked off on Monday in New York to run alongside the United Nations General Assembly.

Founded in 2011 by Matthew A. Swift and Nicholas M. Logothetis, a proud Greek of the Diaspora, the annual gathering has become a focal point of the international agenda, where world-class speakers debate pressing global issues.

During the last seven years prominent world leaders, including former US presidents and President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, have participated in the Summit.

This year’s Summit held on September 24-25 at the Grand Hyatt New York will feature among others Oscar-Winning actor and Represent.Us Board Member Jennifer Lawrence, CEO of Uber Dara Khosrowshahi, President of Microsoft Brad Smith, President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo, CEO of the World Bank Kristalina Georgieva and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

This year’s programming will cover diverse ground, from the rise of populism and the urgent need to engage the political middle to the outlook for global development. Another area of focus this year will be the future of the workforce.

Logothetis, Chairman of the Board of Concordia, has over the years provided the leadership in establishing Concordia as a reputable thought leader in the partnership building space.

“In today’s interconnected world, I really believe in governments working together with the private sector, and this is the mission of Concordia Summit — to promote partnerships between the government sector, NGOs, and business,” he said in a past interview with the Greek Reporter.

“This year’s Annual Summit will feature the most timely and dynamic programming to date, ranging from advancing diplomacy in the Middle East to the role of the private sector in combating the refugee crisis.”

Furthering the conversations that took place during the 2018 Concordia Americas Summit in Bogotá, Colombia earlier this year—providing the first international convening following the country’s presidential elections—the Annual Summit will also feature Iván Duque, President of Colombia, and Mark Green, Administrator of United States Agency for International Development.

This year, Concordia is also partnering with the Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) to bring Blockchain Central to the Annual Summit. Serving as the premier venue during UNGA for all things blockchain, including blockchain-specific programming and a Blockchain Central Lounge for networking and demonstrations, Blockchain Central will allow for a range of discussions with the leading voices in this groundbreaking field to create unmatched opportunities for innovators to collaborate with policymakers and business leaders.
