Stunning Video of Drakolimni, the Greek Sub-Alpine Lake

A drone video captures stunning Drakolimni (Dragon Lake) on Mt Tymfi, located in the northern Pindus mountain range, northwestern Greece.
The sub-alpine lake resides at an altitude of 2050 meters above sea level, in the Vikos–Aoos National Park which accepts over 100,000 visitors per year.
You can discover Drakolimni only on foot since access here is possible only through hiking. From an altitude of 980 meters, at Mikro Papigo village, it will take you 4 hours of hiking to reach the lake. An easier way to visit Drakolimni is from the refuge of Astraka, from which you can reach the lake with an hour of hiking.
There you will find running fresh waters, while at the same time you can see wild goats, large predatory birds and small mammals that constitute the fauna of the region.
The beauty of the landscape is indescribable, offering panoramic views to the surrounding peaks of the mountains. The best seasons to discover the lake is during spring and autumn, as snow does not always allow access during wintertime.
