AEK Knocks Out Olympiacos from Greek Cup (video)


AEK sent Greek champions Olympiacos crushing out of the Greek Cup at the quarter final stage winning 2-1 at the Athens Olympic Stadium on Wednesday.
The Athens club had earned a goalless draw on the first leg at Georgios Karaiskakis.
Two superb goals from Lazaros Christodoulopoulos and Sergio Araujo gave AEK an unassailable lead.
Greece midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis grabbed a late goal, but the Piraeus club could not find a way back.
This was AEK’s second successive derby victory over Olympiacos in the space of three days.
AEL Larissa and Panionios also progressed to the semi finals of the Greek Cup with wins against PAS Giannina and Lamia respectively.
The fourth team will be either PAOK or Atromitos who play in Athens on Thursday. PAOK has a commanding advantage with a 2-0 win in the first lag.
