State Legal Council: Greek Government's Appeal on Manolada Case Will Be Revoked

Greece’s State Legal Council has announced they will revoke the request by Greece’s government to review a ruling by a European court concluding that Greece must pay some 600,000 euros in damages after 42 migrant strawberry pickers were shot by their foreman in Manolada, Peloponnese.
The event happened back in 2013 and according to the Council of Europe’s Court of Human Rights ruling in March, the migrant workers who were natives to Bangladesh were deemed victims of forced labor.
Furthermore, the court ruled that the 600,000 fine in damages to the Greek state was because it failed to protect the migrants.
