Nicholas Logothetis: "Concordia Europe Aims to Boost Greece Worldwide"

Seven years ago Nicholas Logothetis, together with his high-school friend Matthew Swift, decided to launch an organization to facilitate public and private partnerships for the common good. In 2011, the humble launch of the first Concordia Summit in New York City attracted mostly friends and business partners of the founders. Six years later the Concordia Annual Summit in New York has become one of the most important events that run in parallel to the UN general assembly and the organization is now facilitating impactful year-round events around the globe.
For the first time on European soil, the next Concordia Summit is taking place in Greece, where Nicholas’ family is from. As he notes during our exclusive interview it wasn’t just his family’s heritage that drove the decision to bring Concordia to Athens, but also the important issues the country is facing together with the unleashed potential Concordia sees in the Greek people.
“Greeks are very loyal, talented and hardworking people,” says Nicholas. “Recently you only hear bad things about Greece but there is so much potential there.” In fact Concordia’s goal is to boost “brand Greece” in all sectors to the world stage and highlight the Greek people’s potential.
The honorary speaker of the Athens Summit is former Vice President of the United States, recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and leader of the new Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement at the University of Pennsylvania, Joe Biden, together with his wife Dr. Jill Biden. The Summit will also feature addresses from Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, and Non-Executive Chairman of Goldman Sachs International and former President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso.
The event will attract over 400 leaders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors that will provide attendees with an opportunity to participate in meaningful discussions on how public-private partnerships can address pressing issues facing the continent and beyond, including the mounting refugee crisis, the future of the European Union, and regional investment in achieving the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We caught up with Concordia co-Founder and Chairman Nicholas Logothetis at the organization’s headquarters in New York City as his young and lively team was putting the final touches to what is expected to be a star-studded conference in Greece.
