8,150 Refugees Trapped in North Aegean Islands

REFUGEES
Another boat load of refugees and migrants safely docked east of the island of Lesbos early on Monday morning, accompanied by the Greek Coast Guard after having refused to leave their boat. Around 51 refugees and migrants arrived on the island over the last 48 hours. The new arrivals were transported to the Morias hot spot for refugees.
Over the Greek national long weekend, there were few arrivals on the border islands of Chios and Samos, whereas on Tuesday there were no arrivals on North Aegean islands registered until 9.30 a.m.
The tally on Tuesday morning brought refugees on the island of Lesbos (Mytilene) to 4,001 people. On Chios, there are another 3,072 people waiting to make their way to other European countries, whereas the tally on Samos is at 1,077 people. This brings the total number of refugees and migrants trapped on North Aegean islands at 8,150 people despite the EU-Turkey agreement.
