Greek Stats Show Drop in GDP as Eurostat Average Rises

The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced the Gross Domestic Product for the 1st Quarter of 2016. Flash estimates show that available seasonally adjusted data indicate that in this period, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in volume terms decreased by 0.4 percent in comparison with the 4th quarter of 2015, while it decreased by 1.3 percent in comparison with the same period in 2015.
Non-seasonally adjusted data shows that in the 1st quarter of 2016, the GDP decreased by 1.2 percent in comparison with the 1st quarter of 2015.
Flash estimates will be revised when provisional estimates are produced and disseminated on May 30 on the basis of updated primary data that will have become available at that point. The chart, according to ELSTAT.

NOTE: At the same time, data by Eurostat shows that GDP was up by 0.5 percent in both the Eurozone and the EU28 in the first quarter of 2016 compared with the previous quarter. Seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 1.5 percent in the euro area and 1.7 percent in the EU28 in the first quarter compared to the same period last year.
