Admiration for the Archaic Kore in Russia

The Archaic Kore 670 from the Acropolis Museum was treated as a unique and emblematic work of art by the Russian audience, which is being presented in the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg.

The exceptionally preserved Kore, which dates to 520-510 B.C., is dressed in beseted colored clothing and jewelry. The presentation of the marble statue by the Acropolis Museum director, Dimitris Pantermalis and the Hermitage Museum director, was welcomed with enthusiasm by the audience, the journalists and officials.

The ceremonious beginning of the Greece-Russia year was inaugurated by Greece’s Culture Minister Aristidis Baltas and on the Russian side by St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko and Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky.
