Armani’s Greek Designer Protege Participates in Milan Fashion Week

portraitAngelos Bratis, Giorgio Armani’s latest protégé, is a Greek designer who was lucky to be chosen by the famous Italian to get Milan Fashion Week started with his own show in Armani’s theater.

Bratis, 36, was anxious to prove that he is different from his 80-year-old mentor, thus he minimized the show to just a small selection of evening dresses, most of which featured vivid colors and bold geometric patterns.

Many believe that the young Greek designer could be next to the throne of Armani’s empire since the famous designer has taken him under his wing and it is very possible that the 80-year-old Armani may eventually decide to retire.

“There has been a lot of pressure and it has been a lot of hard work,” stated Bratis. “But Mr. Armani chose me because I have my own style and that is what I wanted to show.”

The 36-year-old designer was born and raised in Athens, Greece. After graduating with an MA in fashion design from Amsterdam’s prestigious Fashion Institute Arnhem, Bratis started an intense journey into the fashion world, honing his craft in Italy, collaborating behind the scenes with renowned designer names and garnering great attention from the press with his stand-out styling. He is one of the few young designers who have benefited from Armani’s sponsorship, much like Julian Zigerli.
