a-museum-about-art-closeIn late November, the Museum of Greek Children’s Art, one of the few museums in the world dedicated to the art of children through the exhibition of their works, will celebrate its 20th year of uninterrupted operation with various playful activities, exhibitions and events.
The museum was founded in 1994 and is a charitable, non-profit association, private legal entity. It aims to offer children the chance to learn about art from a young age through school programs, art workshops for children aged 2.5 to 13 years old, seminars for teacher training, bilingual interactive games for individual visitors of all nationalities and exhibitions highlighting the uniqueness of children’s art in Greece and across the world.
The museum has helped at least 140,000 kindergarten and elementary school children who participate in its school art programs. Furthermore, up to 11,000 children have created paintings and various constructions during the art workshops, while 650 teachers have attended training sessions and 52 exhibitions of children’s works have been organized in collaboration with relevant agencies in Greece and abroad.
In addition, the museum has organized 26 international exhibitions in collaboration with TATE Modern in London, the Museum of Children’s Art in Japan, the Greek Culture Foundation in New York, the Olympic Museum in Switzerland, the International Museum of Children’s Art in Oslo, Norway, and others.
