Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and all Africa visited Tunisia and met with the country’s president Moncef Marzouki as well as governmental, religious and diplomatic authorities.
Patriarch Theodore was welcomed by Metropolitan Alexios of Carthage, the Ambassador of Greece in Tunis, Anna Korka, and the president of the Greek Community, Ioannis Boudouroglou. He visited the Cathedral of Saint George in Tunis where he was warmly welcomed by believers. He also visited the office of his predecessor, Patriarch Parthenius III of Alexandria, who served for 29 years as bishop of Carthage.
He also visited the offices and school of the small Greek community and the restored bishopric of the metropolis. Finally, he attended a gala dinner, which was organized in his honor at the residence of Greek Ambassador, Anna Korka.
